Real Madrid will wisely rest three of their most important players vs. Cadiz
Real Madrid will face Cadiz on the second-to-last matchday of the 2021/22 LaLiga season tomorrow afternoon, and fans have been wondering who Carlo Ancelotti will select in his starting XI. Quietly, Madridistas have been hoping for a lot of rotations so that the final matchday against Real Betis can be the true tune-up vs. Liverpool.
And as they wished, it sounds like Carlo Ancelotti will take rest seriously against Cadiz so that the fitness and injury risks to the squad will be lessened. Eyes on the prize, as they say.
Speaking at the press conference before Sunday’s LaLiga fixture, Ancelotti confirmed what he had said before: Thibaut Courtois will not play in goal so that Andriy Lunin will get his second chance of the LaLiga campaign in goal.
Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr. will rest for Real Madrid vs. Cadiz
But he also added that striker Karim Benzema and left winger Vinicius Jr. will get rest on Matchday 37 instead of starting consecutive games.
There was a belief that they could start against Cadiz and then be subbed later, as Eden Hazard is close to returning from his ankle surgery. Hazard may not be able to start, but he could get 30 minutes. With Vini getting rest, though, the possibility of an unlikely start has opened for the No. 7.
As for Benzema, he added to his goal tally on Thursday in the 6-0 blowout of Levante, equaling Raul’s all-time scoring record at Real Madrid – second behind Cristiano Ronaldo. Rest for the No. 9 is paramount, as we have seen how important he is to Madrid’s success in this year’s Champions League. Without him, they would not even be in the final against Liverpool.

Who will start for Benz? Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are the strikers in the squad, but there are false nine options Ancelotti has experimented with earlier this season when Benz was injured. And then there is Castilla prospect Juanmi Latasa, whom Madridistas love.
In addition to these three stars, Luka Modric, another one of the vital players to the Real Madrid cause this season, will naturally get rest due to a suspension.
