Real Madrid Transfers: Talented midfielder may not be worth the reported asking price

Real Madrid have long been interested in planning for the future of their midfield. We all know how good Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric, especially him, have been for the team, but it is time to plan for the future as well, something the club has been doing with the inclusion of Fede Valverde into the lineup, along with the recent signing of Eduardo Camavinga.

Real Madrid are not done, however, as they have been linked to Aurelien Tchouameni in the near past. However, there have been reports about them not going for him unless they sell a midfielder, which is not a great idea.

They have, however, been interested in another midfielder in the past. Jude Bellingham is a talented midfielder that is confirmed to stay at Dortmund for another season.

Real Madrid have kept tabs on him in the past, and, according to a report from AS, Bellingham would cost 100 million euros in 2023.

Real Madrid would be better off going for Aurelien Tchouameni than Bellingham

Alright, I am taking absolutely nothing away from Bellingham here. He is one of the best young midfielders in the world right now that will compete with the absolute best players in his position. But 100 million for him is a little too much, if you ask me.

I am actually of the opinion that Real Madrid should spend that much money on a player like Aurelien Tchouameni, than going for Jude Bellingham, simply because they need the Frenchman more than they need the Englishman.

Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde would be nailed down starters in a few years’ time, and what the team would need is that anchor just behind them, and Tchouameni would be perfect for that role.

One of the two young midfielders the club currently has could form a pivot with Bellingham and make it work, but that is just not how the team plays. They have not played that way for a while, and it’s unlikely they change now. Someone needs to be there to clean up the mess in the back, and cover for the other two midfielders who go forward. Tchouameni would be perfect for that role, and Bellingham might not be.

Bellingham is very versatile and can play in multiple positions in the midfield, but I would rather Real Madrid go for a player they know they need than a player that is very talented but doesn’t exactly fit the profile of the position they need reinforcement in.

That being said, Bellingham would be a good choice if Tchouameni does not sign for the club. However, even then, 100 million is just a bit too much.
