Carlo Ancelotti was criticised heavily for his lack of rotations during the start of the season. In the second half, however, particularly after the game against Barcelona, we have seen Ancelotti rotate a lot more, and give chances to the players who deserve them, and to the ones that haven’t received any.

One of the guys from the latter category is Dani Ceballos, a player that did not feature at all during the first half of the season, either due to injuries or due to Ancelotti trusting his teammates more. Now, however, he’s started playing more and has played significant minutes in big games as well.

Well, according to a report from MARCA, those performances haven’t gone unrecognised. The club sees them and appreciates the level of quality Ceballos is showing on the pitch, but there is one problem.

Even so, Dani Ceballos may never become an important figure at Real Madrid

I have always been a fan of Ceballos, I can’t lie. He has a certain flair to his game that I haven’t seen from many during my time as a football fan.

Ceballos played against Manchester City while suffering from an injury, which shows the desire to do anything it takes to become an important figure under Ancelotti. The thing that is against him right now is the timing. Ceballos is a talented player, but he just cannot be guaranteed starts or even a lot of playing time when Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are fighting for those minutes as well.

It’s tough for Ceballos to get those minutes even if he plays well just because of the quality of players he’d be competing with. It depends on him really. Whether he wants to stay at the club and get fringe minutes, or move to a place where he’d be much more involved, is up to him.

If Real Madrid somehow get Tchouameni as well, then it’d be even worse for Ceballos, so the best thing for him right now would be to move. But then again, if he stays, Real Madrid would have one hell of an option as a back-up central midfielder.
