Real Madrid players tend to be important leaders for their national teams. The likes of Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Iker Casillas, Raphael Varane, Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, Casemiro, and Cristiano Ronaldo have been key figures for their countries over the years, winning silverware individually and for their nations.

French center midfielder Eduardo Camavinga looks like the next big player for Les Bleus, and while he has made appearances for the senior squad, the 19-year-old was surprisingly passed over by France national team manager Didier Deschamps for the upcoming international fixtures.

You can view the French squad here. There are some surprising names in midfield in the squad over Camavinga in Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot – one of the problematic players of the nightmare Euro campaign for France – and Marseille’s pending free agent Boubacar Kamara, who has been very quiet this season.

Eduardo Camavinga showed he is one of the best midfielders in Europe

So it is bizarre to see Camavinga not picked whereas Rabiot and Kamara, who are both clearly worse players, were selected by Deschamps. Camavinga has been a star on the big stage this season, shining in two do-or-die Champions League knockout extra time periods.

Of course, Madridistas know Camavinga will get his chances soon enough. Not even Deschamps can hold him back. But Deschamps’ selections are another reminder of why Real Madrid fans – and so many others – want to see Zinedine Zidane replace Deschamps in the manager’s seat. Zidane would be so much better. And we all remember how Deschamps disrespected Karim Benzema in the past.

In other Real Madrid related discussions about the French national team selection, former players Theo Hernandez, Raphael Varane, and Alphonse Areola made the squad. Current star Benzema is there, too. Future Madrid player Kylian Mbappe joins him. Christopher Nkunku, Jules Kounde, Moussa Diaby, William Saliba, and, of course, Aurelien Tchouameni are a handful of young talents in the squad whom Madridistas should monitor.
