Real Madrid Transfers: Florentino Perez may have Luis Figo-esque clause for Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is known for making complicated deals. Signing the likes of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, and David Beckham in his first tenure was not easy, nor was securing some of the recent transfers that made Real Madrid three-peat Champions League winners.

However, the Kylian Mbappe transfer ordeal has proven to be a different level of complexity, as the political pressures on Mbappe are something else entirely. Both Qatar and France are pushing for Mbappe to stay in Ligue 1, and Qatar’s financial power and desperation afford them an ability to offer Mbappe what no other team could – or would be willing to, in the case of this GM role rumor.

There’s this belief, though, that Perez has already secured something contractually signed with Mbappe – more than just a verbal handshake agreement in which the player gave the Real Madrid president his word, which can, you know, always be backed out of without anything legally binding.

Kylian Mbappe reportedly signed an indemnification clause with Real Madrid

Carrusel reports that Florentino Perez has indeed gotten Kylian Mbappe to sign an indemnification clause with “strong” terms. Basically, that implies that if Mbappe were to re-sign with PSG and go back on this document with Real Madrid, he/his representation would have to pay a significant fee as a penalty – similar to how Perez got Figo many years ago to secure his initial presidency.

But there is a key difference here. You know who could pay this fee for Mbappe if he were to change his mind at stay with PSG?

Yes, the Emir himself. If he is willing to spend a ridiculous amount of money (maybe even 100 million euros per year in wages!)  on Mbappe to convince him to stay, then he would surely be willing to pay whatever penalty it is in order to secure him.

Next. Kylian Mbappe needs to see this Luka Modric quote about joining Real Madrid. dark

The media has sold us a lot of stories, so it is hard to say what the truth is. However, even before there were rumors of Mbappe potentially being pressured into staying in Paris and going against his dream, there were rumblings of this sort of clause cleverly made by Perez. It’s just that, well, you can’t use legal cleverness to compete with that much money.
