Dani Carvajal had a fair but honest response to Kylian Mbappe’s transfer decision
Real Madrid fans are still reeling after the sneaky way Kylian Mbappe played them and the club in order to get a maximal payday – and the partial powers of a sporting director.
Most of the club’s players have been avoiding commenting on Mbappe directly, but there was one key player who decided to speak honestly about the PSG superstar.
Dani Carvajal did not insult Mbappe or say anything out of line, but the man of few words was once again right on the money – no pun intended – with his assessment of Mbappe’s decision. It is a stance many can agree with.
Here is what he told Onda Madrid’s Carlos Rodriguez, via Madrid Xtra on Twitter:
"“Mbappe? We have been amazed by his decision because the best club in the world is Real Madrid and when Madrid knocks on your door you hardly say no. There are trains that only pass once.”"

There is still a debate about whether or not Kylian Mbappe could – or, more specifically from the perspective of fans, should – get another chance at Real Madrid. Dani Carvajal sums up how a lot of fans feel; the answer should be “no”. This should be one of those trains that only passes once, especially for a player who disrespected Real, using the name of the club for his own financial benefit.
Mbappe was well within his right to do that, but Real Madrid players are well within their right to dislike what he did.
Carvajal did not say that, though, of course. What he said is simply the truth. Mbappe made a shocking decision, he turned down Madrid, and he must be prepared to never get this opportunity again. Now, Perez could welcome him, but there are many Madridistas who feel that the PSG star is entitled and should not get that opportunity.
