Real Madrid Transfers: Only one team is meeting Mariano’s wage demands
Mariano Diaz is a player Real Madrid has been trying to sell for three years. Ever since Real Madrid bought back the Dominican international from Lyon, nothing has gone well for both parties. There were some scarce encouraging moments, but those were never going to be enough to make this transfer successful, and only a departure is the ideal solution. This transfer has got to be a lesson for Real Madrid.
This summer, there were rumours that Mariano finally wanted to leave Real Madrid, but there were doubts regarding his departure, given that his wage demands have been high and no club has been able to meet them for the past three years. Even his agent David Aranda has mentioned in an interview that Mariano’s intention has been to leave the club for the past three years, but will leave only if there’s an offer that satisfies him.
But now, we finally have a club that is willing to meet Mariano’s wage demands.
Fenerbahce have reportedly offered wages of 5 million euros to Mariano
Jorge C Picon of Goal Espana has reported that the Turkish club Fenerbahce is willing to meet Mariano’s wage demands of 5 million euros. Fenerbahce had tried to sign the striker in 2019 as well, but Mariano refused a move to Turkey.
This can be seen as an encouraging report, but Jorge C Picon mentions in his report that his departure is still very complicated. Apparently, Mariano’s entourage has been asking for high wages and high bonuses too, and those demands couldn’t be met by clubs like Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, and Sevilla, who were interested in signing Mariano.
This 5 million euro offer from Fenerbahce is inclusive of bonuses, so it is to be seen if Mariano and David Aranda would accept that offer. We also need to see if Mariano would favour a move to Turkey in the first place.

Irrespective of the outcome of this transfer saga, one thing is for sure. Mariano needs to accept the reality that these demands aren’t helping his career in any way.
