Real Madrid’s squad next season looks pretty damn good right now, even without signing a forward. However, I do think they need one, and they definitely need to get rid of a few that they have, and one of them is Marco Asensio.

Real Madrid made their final decision on Marco Asensio’s future not too long ago, per report, and now, it seems like the Spaniard is on his way out of the Spanish capital.

According to a report from AS, another top Premier League club has now emerged as a potential suitor for Asensio, and it’s an interesting choice, to say the least.

Arsenal reportedly want to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

First Liverpool were rumored to be interested in signing Asensio, now Arsenal, according to this report, are interested as well.

According to the report, Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the whole operation.

Hmm. I won’t lie to you guys, I don’t necessarily see the fit, at least from a tactical sense. Arsenal play a high-intensity game, for the most part, which requires their forwards to press the opposition and make them commit errors in their own half.

Asensio, whenever he’s been asked to press as a Real Madrid player post his ACL injury, hasn’t been all that efficient. He’s not a great presser, and even with the ball, he sometimes plays it too safe, and acts as a bystander in tough, physical games. We saw how he ghosted against PSG last season, and it’s just games like that where I’m like, “Is he really going to succeed this way?”

But, Arsenal are definitely an organised team, and Mikel Arteta is a great manager. If there’s anyone that can turn it around for Asensio, it would be him, but it’d require a lot of effort and patience from Asensio as well, because if you look at the options they have going forward, there are a lot of young players that are going to fight for the spots that Asensio prefers.

Saka, Martin Odegaard, Martinelli, Emil Smith-Rowe and now Gabriel Jesus are just some of the young players that Arsenal have, and if Asensio thinks he’ll have it easy in London, he’s very far from the truth.
