Real Madrid aren’t really giving us anything on the signing players side of things, are they? We know they’ve taken a step back as of now and are trying to focus on sales at the moment, which they’ve done by selling Luka Jovic, albeit for free. They’ve also recognised the three players they hope can follow Jovic in leaving, but that’s not happened yet.
But, this squad, it’s not perfect. There is certainly room for improvement, as there always is, but if they want to challenge for all the titles that are available to them, they would need to make some signings, at the very least.
Here are three such players that can sign for Real Madrid before the season starts. I may not agree with all of them, but they remain options for the club to consider.
LB Fran Garcia
This is actually something that might happen, although the possibility of happening decreases every day. We’re seeing fewer and fewer rumors about Fran Garcia joining Real Madrid. Doesn’t have to be like that, though.
First of all, I think that Mendy is too good defensively to be benched, and David Alaba has been too good as a CB to shift back to left-back.
Militao will get more chances in the future, and I think a defensive line of Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Ferland Mendy should be the line to go for. And if that happens, that would mean Real Madrid would require a back-up left-back. That’s where Fran Garcia comes in. I’m not saying Militao should be benched, I think there will be a lot of rotation among these three centre-backs, but I just want Alaba to keep playing as a centre-half. He’s so good there.
If that doesn’t happen, then Garcia is not needed. I really think Real should go for him. He’s available at a low price because of the clause in his contract, and it would be really good to see him play in some games, so that Mendy gets his rest. Fran Garcia is actually a very nice two-way full-back. He makes mistakes sometimes, but he’s a good option to have on the bench.
