Real Madrid’s asking price for Marco Asensio might be too high

Real Madrid have been working on making sure that a bunch of players that they do not need end up leaving the club before the end of the transfer window. If they’re successful, they’d make sure to earn some sort of money, and in some cases, profit, on these players, and they won’t have to pay salaries to them anymore.

They’d also clear up roster spots for any potential signing they might want to make between now and the end of the summer transfer window.

One of those players is Marco Asensio, who, at first, wanted to leave the club, but the reports started coming in that nobody has offered him what he wants to earn. Well, I’d say his demands are a bit high, but he’s not the only one.

30 million for Marco Asensio on an expiring contract might be an overvaluation

According to ABC Deportes, Real Madrid have set a price tag of AT LEAST 30 million euros on Marco Asensio. Well, let’s just say that’s a bit much for a player of Asensio’s calibre, especially when you consider he’s on his final contract year.

Also, think about this; even if Real Madrid lower their demands to around 20 to 25 million euros, they’d still make a huge profit on Asensio, wouldn’t they? I mean, they signed him for less than 5 million euros, and selling him on for 20-25 on an expiring contract is good business, in my book.

Teams that may be interested might actually go for him now and sign him on 20-25 million euros. On an expiring contract, it seems a bit too much for teams to pay 30 million on a player they can get for free the next season.

Lowering their demands – and I mean both Real Madrid and Marco Asensio – would help all parties involved. Real would get some transfer fee and a roster spot, saving a season’s worth of salary in the process.

Marco Asensio would get much more playing time for a team that actually wants him, boosting his chances of making the World Cup squad, and the team might get a version of Asensio that we haven’t seen at Real Madrid in a while.

Win-win-win.
