Real Madrid’s players, like any other top-level club, get a lot of interest from other clubs. Some leave, some stay, and most of the ones who stay go on to be nailed down starters, because the club values them too much, and the same is the other way around.

Eder Militao, according to most reporters, has agreed to a contract with Real Madrid till 2028, and according to Mario Cortegana, rejected interest from Chelsea – and by that I mean a lot of interest – in the last few months to re-sign with Real Madrid.

Cortegana says that Chelsea were the team most interested in Militao over the last few months, but the player’s will to stay at the club prevented that from ever materializing.

Eder Militao did the right thing by extending with Real Madrid

Militao’s last few months at the club have been a bit weird, purely on the basis of form. He just hasn’t been all that great, of course, except for a few games, and even in Real’s first pre-season friendly of the season, Militao struggled a lot, directly being at fault for the goal that Raphinha scored.

But, we all know it’s just a rough patch. Militao is still very young, and soon, he will become consistent as well. It was only the first friendly, so I am not too worried about his performance. I know he’ll be fine, and I am excited about what the future holds for the Brazilian.

I think Militao would find a lot more success at Real Madrid than he would’ve at Chelsea, even though they’re a great club. I just think that you only go downwards after leaving Real Madrid, so staying at the club is definitely the right decision, both for him and the club itself.

That is because there aren’t many young centre-backs that are better than Militao right now, no matter which way you put it. His form doesn’t really impact his overall playing style, and I know he’s going to be just fine.
