A top Spanish club is interested in one of Real Madrid’s best prospects, but there is a catch
Real Madrid’s prospect lineup is actually a joke. There are so many great players on this roster that you could make a talented squad that would probably challenge for European spots, and even beyond, by solely using players below the age of 23.
It’s so good, and there is so much room for improvement. None of these young players has hit their prime yet, and when they do, it’s over for the rest of Europe.
Real Madrid can’t, however, field all their young players at once, and understandably so. It’s not possible, and there are players that are going to inevitably miss out on game time.
One of those players is Miguel Gutierrez, who has only played a handful of games with Real Madrid’s first team but is already a fan favourite. Miguel is a very good player, and even though he is injury prone, his talent is just too much to ignore.
Now, Miguel hasn’t played a lot, and he’s obviously too good for Castilla. The club looked to sell him, which is not a good decision. But, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo, Betis are very interested in signing him on loan with an option to buy, but Real Madrid want 8 million for 50% of his rights, as well as require a buy-back option in the contract.
I don’t see Real Madrid ever giving Miguel a significant role in the first team, sadly
If Real and Betis are able to negotiate a deal and actually include both 50% rights as well as a buyback option, then I don’t really think it’d be good business on Betis’ part, because not only do they get just 50% of his future sale, they also risk losing him to Real Madrid should they trigger the option, but I imagine the buyback option wouldn’t be cheap, either.
I guess in the end, it’s only going to be just one of those things, but it depends on Real’s squad planning. If they plan to re-sign Fran Garcia soon, then the buyback option on Miguel wouldn’t make sense. If there is a plan to incorporate Miguel into the first team at some point, well, first of all, I don’t think there is, and secondly, even if there is, I don’t know if Miguel would settle for a secondary role. So, I think going with just 50% sales would be fine, if he is to be sold.
However, I am of the opinion that Miguel is actually good enough to play for Real Madrid, he just needs to play regular minutes at a top-level Spanish team once. If he can go to Betis on loan and Real like what they see, then I’d be in the favour of bringing him back and having Miguel and Mendy compete for the left-back spot, if Alaba hasn’t already made it his own.

However, as good as Miguel is, I just don’t see a future of him playing at Real Madrid, which makes me a bit sad, because he really is a very good player. We’ve all heard that song before, though, haven’t we?
