We’ve seen Real Madrid go from wanting to have a huge transfer window, to wanting two to three players, to just settling with the two they bought in June. It’s a weird arc, this.

Real Madrid’s squad is not perfect, and it needs some sort of reinforcement. If there are two positions that need some sort of new blood in, it’s the right wing spot and the striker spot.

I’d say that for the striker spot, a 30-year-old who could provide the team with goals off the bench is the way to go. But, the right-wing is a little trickier.

They very clearly need a right-winger, but they’re not looking to sign one because of the trust they have in Rodrygo. According to Mario Cortegana, Real Madrid are not interested in signing Bernardo Silva, even though it was reported by L’Equipe that the player was offered to Real Madrid by Jorge Mendes.

Now, they’re not interested in Silva, according to the newest report, but they should be.

Bernardo Silva has something that Rodrygo currently doesn’t: Consistency

There’s one problem with Rodrygo, and it has shown itself even in the preseason. It’s his consistency as a starter. Of course, it’s only preseason, no one really cares. When the actual season starts is when that’ll start to matter.

But, what if Real Madrid are not able to get a lot of production from Rodrygo? What happens then? Are they going to be stuck with Marco Asensio as a backup option?

At least, with Bernardo Silva, Real Madrid are guaranteed production as well as versatility. The player is so good to watch. He can play as a midfielder, as a winger, as a false nine, and he does all these things well.

The Portuguese has been doing it for a long time now, so there are no issues about consistency or lack thereof.

Rodrygo is still young, the club has renewed his contract and he’ll be around for a few years, and it’s not like he won’t play if Bernardo Silva joins the club. But sacrificing production right now is not the way to go, because Real Madrid need more from their attack, and Silva would be able to provide them with a lot.

Next. Prepare yourself for an incredible Eduardo Camavinga season. dark

He’s not a goalscorer, but he’s surely going to create a bucketload of chances for Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema to pounce on.
