Real Madrid are to face Juventus in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday. The team expects to take this game seriously as it would be the last game before Real Madrid play their first competitive game of the season vs. Frankfurt.
Whoever plays the game against Juventus will start the game against Frankfurt, so choosing the lineup here is very important.
With that being said, here is my predicted lineup for the game against Juventus.
Goalkeeper – Thibaut Courtois
Well, kind of obvious. You’d start the best goalkeeper in the world in every single game you can, wouldn’t you?
Andriy Lunin had a decent game vs Club America, but if this lineup will start the game against Frankfurt, then we can fully expect Courtois to be back between the sticks. It’s going to be very fun seeing him play in a high intensity game, but for now, the friendly would do.
RB Dani Carvajal
The Spanish right-back makes his much-awaited return to the line-up. It’s been a while since we have seen Carvajal play as Real Madrid’s right-back, because he picked up an injury right before their first pre-season game of the season. But, that’s done now. He’s back. He starts.
CB Eder Militao
I would very much want this spot to be taken by Antonio Rudiger, but I don’t think he’s had enough reps as a Real Madrid defender to be included in the starting lineup. Militao had a weird couple of games in the pre-season, but I expect him to be back in the heart of the defense.
CB David Alaba
Real Madrid’s leader in the back. Alaba is so good, he’s become one of my favourite players, and he just keeps on showing how good he is. Undisputed starter.
LB Ferland Mendy
Mendy is an incredible defensive full-back, and it’s a shame he doesn’t get the respect he deserves as a player. The man’s great, and you notice his presence when he’s on the pitch, going up against the world’s best wingers.
CDM Casemiro
I’d like this spot to be taken by Tchouameni, if I am honest, because Casemiro hasn’t really been the best in the pre-season so far, and I am very excited to see Tchouameni play with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. But, if you know anything about Carlo Ancelotti, Casemiro starts this game.
CM Luka Modric
Come on now. This pick is so easy.
CM Toni Kroos
Toni Kroos had a weird second half to the last season, but if the preseason is anything to go by, then I wouldn’t really say Kroos is washed. I think he’s still good enough to start for Real Madrid in most games, so he makes his way into the line-up here.
RW Fede Valverde
Rodrygo has had a mixed bag so far. Fede Valverde, in his fifth season at Real Madrid, will take the RW spot. He was amazing in the Champions League final, so I expect this to continue. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.
LW Vinicius Junior
Another very easy pick. Real Madrid’s starboy, he’s one of the best wingers in the world. There’s no question.
CF Karim Benzema
Another incredibly easy pick. He’s the best player in the world, and he showed that in one half vs Club America.
