The Bernardo Silva rumours came in hot but cooled down pretty soon. Just hours after being reportedly offered to Real Madrid, the Spanish Giants declined any interest in the Portuguese forward. While it seems practical given the reported hefty €80 million price tag, it is a surprise as to why Real Madrid would not even think twice before denying the rumours.

I am no professional analyst to convince a big club to sign an expensive player, but at least I can find some good reasons to convince the readers as to why Bernardo Silva is a great option for Real Madrid, given the position the club is stuck in.

Without wasting much time, I would like to directly jump on how he can help Real Madrid next season, if he is bought.

Chance Creation and dribbling

One thing everyone must know is that Bernardo Silva is one of the best when it comes to dribbling in tight spaces. He keeps the ball close to his feet and constantly moves it around to shuffle the opposition with quick moves. He scans the environment to find spaces and escape the opposition’s pressing. The way he moves around with ease is something worth appreciating.

Other than that, he is an excellent presser. Of course, when you play under Pep Guardiola as a regular starter, it is something you are good at. The style Pep’s Manchester City plays and the fluidity he brings to the team is what makes him a top-class player.

Not to mention, Bernardo Silva loves to keep the ball to himself when transitioning from defence to attack. He attracts the defenders towards him while spotting Kevin De Bruyne’s, Riyad Mahrez’s and Erling Haaland’s run to quickly launch them into open spaces, thus perfectly executing a counter-attack.

If you all remember, he scored a stunning goal against Real Madrid which is enough to show his ability to the world. The way retained the ball, then faked to move past Kroos, and a quick movement to clear the goal in front of him only to hit a powerful strike past Thibaut Courtois.

But this is not the only thing he can offer.
