3. FC Bayern Munich

FC Bayern, the competition’s champion for 2019-20, is one of the top three favourite clubs to win the UCL this season, and rightly so. The German club has practically everything in place to win the Champions League, and Julian Nagelsmann’s team is making the group stage seem simple from the start.

Despite losing their star Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona over a month ago, Bayern Munich managed to hold the former Polish star at bay in their group stage encounter against the Spanish squad.

After losing Lewandowski, Bayern found the ideal substitute in Sadio Mane, who has been hitting goals left and right, and the post-Lewandowski period has not concerned them, which they have outgrown as effortlessly as they entered it.

The German team has secured two easy wins in what is known as the group of death and will most certainly emerge as the group’s leaders.

Several defensive and midfield reinforcements, such as Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch, have also been brought in, but as of today, the Bavarian defence appears fragile. While something or the other has stopped goals from being conceded, this does not totally alleviate worries. Sadio Mane, too, has been out of form recently, failing to score in four consecutive games.

With that fixed, FC Bayern will be well-positioned to go to the final rounds of the tournament, and maybe win it, if the necessary adjustments are made at the appropriate moment.
