Ranking the top 5 teams most likely to win the UEFA Champions League in 2022-23
2. Manchester City FC
Every new season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team manages to field a team that is even better than the previous one, yet they cannot manage to win the European cup. This season is no exception; with a slew of new signings, fantastic players, and maybe superior tactics, the squad appears competitive, but what happens in the last minutes is beyond comprehension even then, let alone at this early stage.
The most notable addition to City’s roster is Erling Haaland, who has taken the Premier League by storm and clubs in the UCL group stage could not avoid his fury. The Norwegian has joined a team that has made the world’s supposedly top league appear like a farce, and his inclusion would just increase the disparity.
What Manchester City is doing at home is meritorious, but when will it be time to replicate it in Europe?
Guardiola’s team has few weaknesses compared to other teams, who all have at least one vulnerability that may be exploited. It is a team full of talents like Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and many more who are at the peak of their game and, more significantly, have seen the title slip from their grasp countless times. They clearly understand the value of what they desire and the effort required to attain it.
This may be the year Manchester City finally wins the Champions League, unless fate flips the coin at the last second and causes another upset.
