Who leaves?

Out of the seven expiring contract, four need to be renewed. Which means that three players have been left out of the running.

Dani Ceballos is probably the hardest name to leave out because he offers something that no one else does in the club. He is able to break lines effortlessly and he’s aggressive in the center of the pitch. He is also just 26-years-old and therefore has a few very good years ahead of him.

Unfortunately though, it’s difficult to keep him and have him play often with the amount of midfielders that are at the club. Kroos, Modric, Tchouameni, Valverde and Camavinga will all be at the club and there is even talk of a possible purchase of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. It just doesn’t look too good for Ceballos.

Another name off the list that some may argue against is Marco Asensio, who was Real Madrid’s third top scorer last season just behind Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior. However, Asensio’s form has dropped significantly over the past couple seasons and even though he has the meanest left-foot in the team, it isn’t enough to warrant offering him a new contract.

There were possibilities that he would be sold last summer but nothing materialized and he has a massive hill to climb in order to change Perez’s mind.

The final name on the list is Mariano Diaz. Yes, Real Madrid will have the striker off the books next season as they unsuccessfully attempted to sell him in every possible transfer window over the past three seasons. Finally now, he has no say in it as his contract comes to an end and he will have to leave the club. It remains to be seen where he sees his future after Real Madrid.
