Real Madrid have the best squad in the world at the moment, but it is clear that there is a lot of work still left to be done. If they were acting like the best, they would be doing a lot better.

Of course, injuries play a part. There are also a few profiles missing, but Real Madrid could do a lot more with the squad they have.

However, Real Madrid want to improve. They want to sign players in positions that need it, and according to a report from AS, Real Madrid want some players in the summer transfer window.

They have so many great players, but there are three distinct positions where they could do well with some reinforcement. According to the report, Real Madrid have three main targets for the summer transfer window: Martin Zubimendi, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Martin Zubimendi would greatly help Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been linked with all of them - particularly the last two - very strongly in the last few weeks and months. But, Real Madrid could do with a controller and defensive midfielder in Zubimendi as well, although that is a position that should not be as high on the priority list as the other two.

Real Madrid will face stiff competition from Arsenal for his signing as well, so they have to keep that in mind.

Real Madrid have needed a right-back ever since they lost legendary defender Dani Carvajal to a season-ending injury. It is likely that he will not be the same player when he comes back from injury.

Meanwhile, Trent is one of the best full-backs in world football, and he would only improve once he joins the biggest club in the world. The report says it is almost done, which is a good sign for the club.

The final position is the center-back. It needs no further documenting that Real Madrid need to sign a center-back soon. Huijsen is young, strong and has a cheap release clause that, although the club will try to negotiate, will inevitably make things easier for them.

Real Madrid also consider bringing back Miguel Gutierrez and Nico Paz at the end of the season, although that may not be as concrete as these three transfer targets.
