No matter where he goes or how long he has been coaching, Jose Mourinho always finds a player on a team to target mercilessly as they incur their wrath for everything wrong at the club. Rick Karsdorp, Iker Casillas, Henrik Mkhitaryan, and so many other have come in the crosshairs of the legendary Portuguese manager over the years, so it's fair to wonder, who will be his next victim in his second stint at Real Madrid? Here are three candidates.
CM Eduardo Camavinga
There is no doubt that Eduardo Camavinga is front and center on the list, because, like Mkhitaryan infamously at Manchester United, Cama is the player who won't leave who is preventing Mourinho from signing a top defensive midfielder he actually wants. And Cama may have already cost Mou the chance to sign Rodri this summer transfer window, with the Spanish national team hero headed for rivals Barcelona.
Aside from that, Camavinga has been poor these last couple of seasons, and he is everything Mourinho doesn't like in a midfielder. Camavinga is terrible technically, gives the ball away cheaply, and still does not know how to position himself properly in defense. These two are destined to collide.
CM Fede Valverde
Likewise, Fede Valverde made a huge stink about playing right back last season and contributed to Xabi Alonso getting fired before instigating an embarrassing fight with Aurelien Tchouameni in the locker room. Fede was blasted for being one of the worst captains in Real Madrid history last season, and then he followed that up with an awful, awful World Cup for Uruguay in which he did the same garbage there as he did in Madrid. Valverde was a great player for Madrid, but he's been below average these last two seasons. If he doesn't step up, Mourinho will cook him.
ST Kylian Mbappe
As always, a bunch of meaningless goals in the World Cup made everyone swoon for Kylian Mbappe, and while Jose Mourinho is here to make things work with the Frenchman, literally no other manager has been able to do that. Mbappe's teams chronically underperform, even France when you actually look deeper beyond him winning off Paul Pogba's and Antoine Griezmann's coat tails in 2018, and he is the main issue for that. Luis Enrique said it about him before he left and PSG won two Champions Leagues whlie Real Madrid have won none. And if Enrique can't work with him, what makes anyone think Mourinho will be pleased with a player who never listens to the manager and has an ego problem the size of Texas?
