Real Madrid appear to have little-to-no hope of signing Bayern Munich star Michael Olise this summer, with the Frenchman valued as one of the German club's prize possessions.
Olise has been linked with Los Blancos over recent times, but Bayern president Herbert Hainer has made it clear that there is no scenario in which the transfer will take place.
He said: “Michael Olise is a player of FC Bayern München, and he is under a long-term contract. We are not a selling club. If Florentino Pérez wants to send us a bid — which has not happened so far — he can save himself the trouble."
That's about as close to game over as one can get, and there is no chance of Olise forcing his way out, given Bayern are currently closer to the best teams in the world than Real Madrid. So, where do Los Blancos go next in their search for a right winger? Here we take a look at some alternative options.
3. Rayan
This is the least glamerous option, but it could be a smart one. Olise, even if the deal was possible, would cost something silly like €150million, while Real Madrid can save themselves some money by signing a younger player, although any younger player is not going to be the ready-made article Olise is.
Rayan is a 19-year-old Brazilian talent currently with AFC Bournemouth, and he is already among the most valuable right-backs in the world. He managed five goals and two assists in just 15 Premier League games to help the Cherries to European qualification, and he already has the makings of being a dominant right winger.
The talent is clear, and he has the physicality to dominate left-backs. He is not Olise, not yet, but Rayan could well be a €100million player some day, and Real Madrid should consider getting ahead of it.
2. Antoine Semenyo
More of a finished product than Raya, Semenyo has established himself as one of the best right wingers in the world, and he also has a Bournemouth background.
Manchester City value him as one of their most important players, so he would be an expensive signing, but it's lkely even at €100million he would be €50million cheaper than Olise.
Semenyo is an incredibly dangerous winger, scoring 21 and assisting six this season for City, and his consistency is what makes him stand out above some of the other right wing options. He is still only 26, and he is one of those players who may well be worth paying big bucks for.
1. Désiré Doué
Doué is the best option, but he is by far the least practical option. PSG are not going to want to sell one of the key components to their best-in-the-world front three, and it's unlikely the forward will want to leave on the back of back-to-back Champions League titles.
But if we are looking at the best right wing options, it's hard not to put Doué at the top of the list, given he likely rivals Olise and Lamine Yamal for the best right winger in the world spot.
Doué scored 13 and assisted 11 in the season just gone, and still only 21 years of age, there is so much more still to come. This deal would likely cost €150million, and it's a dream idea.
