Real Madrid are three wins from three at the start of the La Liga season. However, this is still not good enough to go top of the division, as Barcelona are currently ahead on goal difference.
Jose Mourinho's side will be heavy favourites when they host Real Betis tonight. It appears that Mourinho still does not know his best XI. Therefore, many of his players have a lot to prove tonight.
3 Real Madrid players with the biggest points to prove against Real Betis
Trent Alexander-Arnold
There were concerns about whether Trent Alexander-Arnold would have a future at Real Madrid after Mourinho was reappointed. The manager is known for his defensive style of play, and Alexander-Arnold could have been seen as too attacking for Mourinho's system.
Real Madrid also brought in Denzel Dumfries as competition for Alexander-Arnold at right-back. Dumfries started Los Blancos' first two La Liga games. However, Alexander-Arnold played the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 win against Málaga.
The former Liverpool right-back even assisted Kylian Mbappe's goal against Malaga. As Betis have just lost 5-2 to Levante, if Alexander-Arnold is chosen to start, then he will be looking for more goal contributions.
He would also be up against ex-Manchester United player Antony, who can be a tricky customer. Therefore, Alexander-Arnold will need to be in form defensively too. Alexander-Arnold will also be playing with a point to prove to the England manager, Thomas Tuchel. The Three Lions manager left Alexander-Arnold out of the World Cup squad. This new season is a fresh start for the right-back to prove Tuchel wrong.
Dean Huijsen
Dean Huijsen was highly rated when he was at AFC Bournemouth, but his first season at Real Madrid was mixed. His season has started well, playing every minute of Los Blancos' La Liga campaign so far.
Huijsen needs to stay in form as Ibrahima Konate is waiting in the wings to take his place. Huijsen is a perfect partner for Antonio Rudiger at the back, as the Spanish international is younger and therefore has fresher legs. Raul Asensio is also injured, which leaves Mourinho with limited options at the back.
Real Betis also has a notable attack, with Troy Parrott playing ahead of Isco. Parrott is a highly rated young Irish forward, and Los Blancos fans will know all about their former player, Isco. Betis also have ex-West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals in their ranks. Huijsen will need to be in form to keep these players quiet.
Vinicius Junior
Vinicius Junior was linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer. However, this appeared to be just talk to help him get a better deal with Real Madrid. His La Liga campaign has started well, with one goal and two assists so far.
There are still concerns as to whether Vinicius is truly at his best alongside Jude Bellingham and Mbappe. Tonight would be a perfect opportunity for Vinicius to prove doubters wrong. He will also be up against former Arsenal player Hector Bellerin, who has the experience to deal with the Brazilian.
Brahim Diaz
Brahim Diaz did not have his best game against Malaga. He did not have any goal involvement and was substituted after 65 minutes for Yan Diomande. Diaz has also been linked with a move to Besiktas. However, with the Turkish window closing today, that move will likely not come to fruition.
Diomande arrived at the club this summer from RB Leipzig. If Diaz gets a chance against Betis, then he must take it, as Diomande is putting huge pressure on him. Diaz would be up against his ex-teammate Fran Garcia, so both players will know each other's games inside out.
