A Real Madrid star joins Lamine Yamal in Kopa Trophy race (and it's not Arda Guler)

Real Madrid have created quite the talent pool of young players who have been regularly contributing to the first team.

Whether it is external signings like Arda Guler or Castilla standouts like Gonzalo Garcia and Raul Asencio, things are looking good for the club's future.

Guler, in particular, has been very impressive in the last few months, earning a role in the starting XI and impressing both Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso.

However, he has not received a Kopa Trophy nomination this time around. There is space for only one Real Madrid player, and it is not Guler.

Dean Huijsen fully deserves his Kopa Trophy nomination

It is actually new signing Dean Huijsen, who bossed the Premier League for Bournemouth. He was one of the best central defenders in England, at a very young age, which is brilliant.

He joined Real Madrid in June, and was also one of the best players for the team in the Club World Cup.

To me, a nomination for Huijsen seems like an absolute no-brainer. The kid is so talented, his maturity - apart from his red card against Dortmund - is way beyond his years, and he will be a starter at Real Madrid for years to come.

Real Madrid have been needing a centre-back for a very long time, and I feel like the talent he has made it worth the wait.

However, will he win the Kopa Trophy? That is tough.

Lamine Yamal did have an amazing season as a 17 year old, so I think he is the overwhelming favorite for the award.

However, if it is a fair ranking system, then Huijsen should definitely be up there. He should be in the top half of the nominees at the very least, as Real Madrid have secured a gem in Spanish football.

He will be leading the defensive line with fellow nominee Pau Cubarsi for years to come, so it is a no-brainer.
