Real Madrid beat Alaves 1-0 in a heated atmosphere at the Mendizorrotza Stadium on Sunday afternoon in LaLiga.
Los Blancos went ahead after a brilliant Eduardo Camavinga goal from range, but quickly suffered another blow as Kylian Mbappe got sent off for one of the worst challenges of the season.
Real Madrid played the remainder of the match with 10 men, but Alaves later joined the party with a red card offense of their own, as Real Madrid finished a bizarre game with three points.
Here are the player ratings:
GK Thibaut Courtois
Courtois had to collect some tame headers and some shots from range, but was nto called into action nearly as much as he was against Arsenal. Clean sheet. Rating: 7
RB Lucas Vazquez
Not a bad performance from Vazquez, which is more than what I am usually able to say about the forward-turned-defender. It was not a great performance, but it was certainly not his worst one. Defended decently and went up whenever needed. Should still be benched for the game against Arsenal at any cost. Rating: 6
CB Raul Asencio
Scored a bizarre goal that got ruled out for a foul by Antonio Rudiger on Alaves' goalkeeper. Apart from that, had to make several key challenges to win the ball as Alaves dominated possession, especially in the first half. Lost a couple of aerial duels but played well overall. Rating: 7.5
CB Antonio Rudiger
Good performance from Rudiger. His foul prevented Real Madrid from having a lead early on, but he did play well. Led the defensive line to the best of his abilities. Rating: 6.5
LB Fran Garcia
A good shift from Garcia defensively. Hopefully he starts on Wednesday as well, but looked pretty good. Defensively worked hard and won challenges. He was not able to go up as much as he would have wanted to but it was one of Fran Garcia's better performances. Rating; 6.5
DM Aurelien Tchouameni
Was tidy in possession and defended well as the pivot. Did not do a whole lot of things, but was present whenever needed. Rating: 6.5
CM Eduardo Camavinga
A really good all-round performance from Camavinga. A brilliant goal outsde the box, but he also won a fair number of tackles and interceptions in deep, dangerous areas. His passing was mostly good too. Rating: 8
CM Fede Valverde
Great defensive shift from Valverde as he had to dig deep in the first half to clear any danger coming his way. Covered for Vazaquez really well and had the assist to Camavinga's first-half strike too. Rating: 7.5
RW Arda Guler
Had some good linkup play with his teammates - one of them being Camavinga's goal - and had a few really good passes, but got subbed off for Jude Bellingham. Also had a scoring opportunity but did not work out. Rating: 6.5
CF Kylian Mbappe
Awful. Just awful. Saw that the Alaves defenders were getting into his head in the first half and instead of showing his ability, he proceeds to attempt to break a player's leg. Absolutely disgusting. Rating: 2
LW Rodrygo
Was taking players on very well on his preferred left side. Created chances out of thin air on many occasions, but was not able to score. Subbed off - presumably to give him rest for Arsenal - for Vinicius Jr. Rating: 7
Substitutions
Vinicius Jr
Was poorly fouled by Manu Sanchez which got the Alaves man a deserved red card. Apart from that, created a few chances for himself and his teammates from the striker position. Rating: 6.5
Jude Bellingham
Decent shift. He came on to see the game out, and that's what he did. Was tidy in possession. He did have multiple chances to score a goal but missed all of them. Rating: 6.5
Brahim Diaz
Nothing noteworthy. Rating: 6
Dani Ceballos
Returned to the pitch after almost two months on the sideline. Looked great on the ball and would be good to see him against Arsenal - finally. Rating: 6
