Xabi Alonso is getting closer and closer as we speak. Real Madrid are acting quickly as they prepare to part ways with Carlo Ancelotti and choose Alonso as their next manager.

The Spaniard will not face any antagonism from Bayer Leverkusen as he leaves, but the club has decided to replace him with someone Real Madrid know.

According to COPE, Leverkusen are considering replacing Xabi Alonso with Alvaro Arbeloa, who is presently the manager of Real Madrid's youth facility, La Fabrica.

Leverkusen intends to replace the Spaniard with a top-tier manager, and it appears that Arbeloa's chance to establish himself on the largest platform has arrived.

A Leverkusen move could be the turning point in Alvaro Arbeloa's career

Arbeloa presently manages Juvenil A at La Fabrica and has a lengthy history with the academy.

He is also one of the best Real Madrid players ever, and many consider him a legend. There is little doubt that his positive relationship with Los Blancos influenced his decision to stay after retirement.

The retired footballer's coaching job is new to him, but he has performed well thus far. He has revitalized La Fabrica, and while he has received some criticism, his performance thus far has been positive.

For Leverkusen, the deal appears affordable, and it makes a lot of sense for them to replace one former Real Madrid player turned manager with another.

Earlier reports indicated that the German club was interested in signing former Barcelona manager Xavi to replace Xabi, but nothing came of those rumours.

The possible trade of Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa might also benefit Los Blancos financially. According to the report, Alonso's release clause at Leverkusen is around 8 million euros.

Though the sum is small in comparison to the type of leader they would hire, it is nevertheless significant.

However, with the exchange now under discussion, Madrid may be able to negotiate a lower compensation with Leverkusen in order to sign Alonso.
