Over the recent years we've seen Real Madrid give up on a lot of their academy products. The academy has produced some legends like Iker Casillas, Raul, and Guti in the past and has recently produced players who have the potential to be legends at the Bernabeu but instead of playing them, the club ships them off elsewhere for some quick cash and unfortunately it seems this could be what is on the horizon for one of the brightest Castilla products in recent years.
As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Borussia Dortmund are prepared to offer €30 million to sign striker Gonzalo Garcia this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly open to his departure, however Dortmund's offer is far off the €60 million price tag Los Blancos have put on the player.
Real Madrid ready to give up on Gonzalo Garcia already
Gonzalo burst onto the scene with Real Madrid during last summer's FIFA Club World Cup and quickly drew comparisons to the great Raul and based on what we've seen on the pitch it is understandable why. He grabbed the tournament golden boot while filling in for Kylian Mbappe and has grabbed six goals and two assists across 22 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, including a jaw-dropping hat-trick against Real Betis back in January.
The 22-year-old was a regular substitute under Xabi Alonso and is exactly the kind of classic number nine player Real Madrid have been missing since the departures of Karim Benzema and Joselu in recent years. However, his situation has changed drastically under Alvaro Arbeloa, with Gonzalo barely getting any minutes and with reports saying the club are open to his sale, we could be seeing the last few games of Gonzalo in the famous all white kit of Real Madrid.
The striker has shown the sheer amount of talent and potential he has at just 22-years-old so it is understandable that a club like Borussia Dortmund would be interested in bringing in a player of his type. Dortmund is the club where Erling Haaland spent a few years to develop as a player and that could same situation could play out for Gonzalo. His style of play fits the Bundesliga perfectly and with Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy starting to get older, bringing in Gonzalo is a move that makes total sense for the Bundesliga side.
As mentioned earlier Los Blancos have set a price tag of €60 million on the striker, which isn't cheap by any means but for a player with all the potential in the world it could out to be a steal of a deal when all is said and done. It would be a shame if Gonzalo's Real Madrid career were to come to an end so soon. He is exaclty the kind of player the team needs, but with the club favoring superstar players over academy players, Gonzalo is fighting an uphill battle despite showing he has what it takes to compete with the best of the best on the pitch.
