Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has officially become Brazil's manager, the national team announced on Monday afternoon.
David Ornstein of The Athletic was the first to report that the Italian has now signed a deal with Brazil to become their manager for the next year.
Fabrizio Romano also gave his signature Here We Go to the deal shortly after, and the manager will now move to Brazil at the end of this LaLiga campaign.
This move from Real Madrid to Brazil has been in the works from the Brazilian Federation for the last two years. Ancelotti renewed with Real Madrid towards the end of 2023, and the move never materialised.
However, this season has been a compleltely different story for Real Madrid and Ancelotti. Real have struggled quite a bit all season, and Ancelotti has been one of the reasons for that.
He has failed in every big competition this season, and the team was far-fetched from the idea everyone had when Kylian Mbappe joined the club in June.
Now, Real Madrid will part ways with him and get Xabi Alonso, whom they will aim to get onboarded before the Club World Cup to give him maximum time with the squad.
Real Madrid need to be patient with Xabi Alonso
Obviously, at a club like Real Madrid, you have to produce quality instantly. You have to show you are well up for the job from the get-go, and rightfully so - but Real Madrid need to show some patience with Alonso. Alonso is a brilliant manager, and has achieved a lot in his time with Bayer Leverkusen.
Real Madrid need to have faith in him and provide him with time and other resources so that he is able to compete. Ancelotti got the time even after the humbling 2022-23 season - and countless defeats this season too.
Alonso deserves that, because if you want to have a project of a dynasty, you need to give the manager some time, and, more importantly, resources to be able to create the squad he wants.
There are a few gaping holes in this Real Madrid team that need addressing as soon as possible, and Real Madrid need to give Alonso an opportunity by signing a few of those players so that he does not have to fall for the blame, just like a few other managers have in the past.
Real Madrid have a brilliant coach in Alonso. He is very good tactically. He has also got the man-management side of things figured out too. It is time to give him the keys.
