Carlo Ancelotti is in denial about Real Madrid's performance vs Valencia

Real Madrid showed a shambolic display in Valencia's 2-1 win over the home side at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon. A goal from Vinicius Jr was not nearly enough, as Real Madrid basically conceded the title race to Barcelona.

After the match, Ancelotti held his usual post-match press conference, in which he was asked about a lot of things.

He talked about the match, about the penalty situation and how Real Madrid will fare against Arsenal in goal.

He was asked about Real Madrid's performance, to which he replied that they deserved a win.

The Italian manager said: "Madrid deserved to win, without a doubt. Can things be improved? Of course they can. It's not a matter of attitude; you can criticize whatever you want, but I have the right to see what I see.

"We've had deserved defeats, but today wasn't deserved. Today there was no lack of attitude."

That is just not true.

Real Madrid did not deserve the win, despite Ancelotti saying otherwise

Real Madrid may have created a few more chances than Valencia, but nowhere in that entire game did they deserve to win. Not even for a second. Real Madrid only had three players who deserved more than what they got: Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe. Apart from them, every single player was average at best, shambolic at worst.

Real Madrid defended in such a terrible manner, and conceded two goals in similar fashion to how they have done this entire season.

No matter how many chances a team makes, they will not win if they are vulnerable every time the other team goes forward.

It was such a bad performance from Real Madrid, top to bottom. Ancelotti is definitely the first person to blame after a loss like that, and it is supposed to be a game where they show their true colors. Real Madrid needed a win, and they could not even muster up a draw.

LaLiga is done, and Ancelotti knows, but for some reason, rather than admitting and thinking about fixing mistakes, he just would not admit that the team deserved the loss after such a poor defensive showing.
