Real Madrid basically gave away the league title after a frustrating 1-2 draw at home to relegation fighters Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.

Real Madrid started the game in typical Real Madrid fashion, as, even though they had a lot of possession, they looked lifeless in attack, apart from efforts from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Vinicius Jr missed a first-half penalty, but made amends as he scored the equaliser after Real Madrid conceded from yet another corner. In the last minutes of the match, however, Real Madrid completely crumbled defensively and conceded a goal.

Here are the player ratings from the match:

GK Fran Gonzalez

Debut for the Castilla goalie, and got knighted in perfect fashion as he conceded from a corner. Real Madrid's 19-year-old could not have done much otherwise as Valencia did not create that many chances. Made a couple of decent stops, but conceded two goals. Rating: 5.5

RB Lucas Vazquez

Kept getting cooked on the right. Had a couple of good passes but nothing apart from that. Left so much space for Valencia to become threats in. Rating: 4

CB Aurelien Tchouameni

For some reason, Tchouameni returned as a central defender. He did OK, did not have to do much. Won a few challenges but positioning could have been slightly better in some sequences. Good overall, but no need to play him in the defense. Caught out of possession in the build up to Valencia's winner. Rating: 5.5

CB Antonio Rudiger

Lost out on an aerial duel with Niakhate that resulted in Valencia's goal. Did not do much worse than that, but there was not a lot to note from his performance in a good way either. Could have scored an equalizer in the last minutes. Rating: 5.5

LB Fran Garcia

Gave away possession cheaply in some sequences, but had a few good passes. Some really bad crosses but provided a lot of width on the left. Rating: 5.5

CM Luka Modric

Helped control possession and create from deep for Real Madrid. Was one of the tidiest players on the pitch. Did not fill the statsheet but controlled the game for Real Madrid in the first half, as they looked for him in most sequences. However, he lost the man that Rudiger lost the header to in Valencia's goal, and his influence went away in the second half. Rating: 6

CM Federico Valverde

Had some really worrying challenges on him from some Valencia players, but not only did he come back up from that, but he also played well apart from that. Had some moments of lack of concentration, but apart from that, he cleared out fires for Real Madrid. Rating: 7

AM Jude Bellingham

One of Real Madrid's two good players in the first half, Bellingham was perhaps one of the only players who seemed like he wanted to win the match. He kept creating chances out of nothing, dribbling past multiple players and creating good shooting oppotunities. Assisted Vinicius Jr's goal with a headed flick. Was one of Real Madrid's most involved players. Rating: 7

RW Brahim Diaz

Worked hard out of possession but was frustrating on the ball for Los Blancos on a number of occasions as he held on to the ball for a touch or two too long every single time. Was the first man off. Rating: 5.5

ST Kylian Mbappe

The other best Real Madrid player in the first half, and really, the whole game as well. Created a lot of chances for himself and his teammates, won the penalty that Vinicius Jr missed, but he slipped a lot as well. He created a lot of chances, but also admittedly missed a bunch of chances, especially in the second half. Rating: 6.5

LW Vinicius Jr

Vinicius Jr showed both sides of his in this match. First half, he was reserved and a frustrated figure. He also missed the penalty. In the second half, he was the player every Real Madrid player wanted to see. Scored Real Madrid's first goal and worked tirelessly on and off the ball. Was pumped up after the first goal, but did not do much beyond that. Rating: 6.5

Substitutions

RW Rodrygo

Moved to the left after Vinicius Jr got subbed off, but did not do much damage on either side. Rating: 6

CF Endrick

Did not do much. Rating: 6

CM Eduardo Camavinga

Nothing to note. Played it too safe. Could not defend Rafa Mir's cross in Valencia's winner. Rating: 5.5

LB David Alaba

Some good crosses from Alaba on the left, but none of them actually got to the target. Rating: 6

CM Arda Guler

Came on late in the game and could not do much. Rating: 6
