Real Madrid, despite the criticism they have had this season - and rightfully so - are still alive in all competitions. They may not look like the best team in the world, but they technically still have the ability to do something that would make them objectively the best team in the world: win the treble.

It may not happen. Real Madrid have not looked convincing in most of their games this season. Not only in the big games, but also in the small ones, Real Madrid have struggled on many occasions. However, they are still alive in every competition.

They will have to win every single game from now to have a chance at winning the treble, and even if they do that in the league, it still may not be enough. Real Madrid will have to either hope that they beat Barcelona by more than four goals, or hope that Barcelona drop points apart from the potential loss to Real Madrid.

Ancelotti believes Real Madrid can win every league game until the end of the season

Ancelotti, in his most recent press conference, just a day before the team welcomes Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, was asked about their remaining nine games of the league campaign, whether they can win them all to retain the league title.

He said: “We have to be optimistic and believe we can do it. We’re very close in every competition, and we’re confident. Based on past events, we can achieve it.”

I guess it makes sense. However, Real Madrid have to change a lot of things. Their inconsistency in the league this season has been really worrying. Even in the games they should comfortably win, they make it difficult for themselves and end up having to exert extra energy to win them.

Ancelotti has never retained a league title in his entire career, and that is one mark that he would want to remove from an otherwise storied 20 years of his life.
