Chelsea are suddenly becoming an escape route for Real Madrid to sell Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid fans booed Kylian Mbappe out of frustration in his return from injury to the Santiago Bernabeu, and his response was not only to laugh at them, but he also overshadowed Gonzalo Garcia's Man of the Match performance in his stead as a starter by lashing out Alvaro Arbeloa for not starting him, even though he had pulled up with a hamstring injury just ays before to miss another big game, El Clasico.

Mbappe threw Arbeloa under the bus, insulted his teammates by stating that they could not win without him in the Copa del Rey (never mind that they won in the Champions League against Manchester City without him and lost to Bayern Munich with him), and behaved so boorishly in the press conference that rumor has it incoming manager Jose Mourinho is already leery of him. Mbappe is no longer untouchable at the Santiago Bernabeu, and even rumors of Real considering a sale - and Mbappe himself considering a move - are starting to bubble up in the corners of the Spanish press.

And now, there is actually a landing spot for Mbappe that could work. Chelsea. At the press conference, Mbappe, having said nothing about Xabi Alonso for months, invoked the former Real Madrid manager to criticize Arbeloa, who retorted that Mbappe only liked Alonso because he was scoring more goals.

Chelsea is a real landing spot for Kylian Mbappe

But it is true that Alonso and Mbappe had a great relationship. Mbappe loves anyone who cowtows to him - until the minute they don't, then he will callously betray them - and Alonso did just that, centering him in his project at the expense of everyone else and the team. Alonso failed at Real Madrid and was not yet ready to manage the Bernabeu, but he should be ready for Chelsea after an undefeated season at Bayer Leverkusen a few years ago. And he has the makings of a great manager, regardless of his issues in the Spanish capital.

Chelsea also love to take risks and spend money. They spent huge sums on Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in midfield. They splurged on a much worse attacker in Mykhaylo Mudryk. So nine figures for Kylian Mbappe? Todd Boehly would surely gladly make that sort of investment for someone still seen by many as the most talented footballer in the world.

If Kylian Mbappe and Jose Mourinho can't get on the same page, or if Mourinho does not want to deal with him at all and wants to go back to the old stars of Carlo Ancelotti's Champions League triumphs, Mbappe and Real Madrid could get with Chelsea and facilitate a transfer.

Chelsea have been looking for that huge superstar in the attack for years, especially at the 9. With Deco and Barcelona after Joao Pedro, who is their only competent striker but not a true scoring 9, Mbappe becomes even more attractive. Because Estevao Willian and Cole Palmer need a reference point, and everyone knows Liam Delap is not that guy. Mbappe to Chelsea under Alonso is a move to watch and maybe the one escape route Mbappe and Madrid have at their disposal.
