Don't be surprised when Eduardo Camavinga performs well after leaving Real Madrid

Obviously, Kylian Mbappe is the player under the most criticism at Real Madrid, and his fellow superstar forward Vinicius Junior is a pretty close second. But the player with no real allegiance from Florentino Perez at this point and who stands the biggest chance of being scapegoated is center midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Though the young Frenchman has no intention of leaving Real Madrid and admirably wants to stay at the Valdebebas and fight for a spot in the midfield, that may not be feasible. Although Real are almost certainly shipping off Dani Ceballos at long last, spots in the middle of the park will be a premium for Cama. Nico Paz is coming back from Como, and both Thiago Pitarch and Miguel Angel have joined the rotation from Castilla; Thiago already looks like a superior player to Camavinga based on this season's form.

Beyond that, with big names from the Premier League like Enzo Fernandez, Sandro Tonali, Alexis Mac Allister, and, of course, former rival Rodri linked to the Merengue name, a deep lying midfielder is probably coming in to further complicate Camavinga's situation.

Eduardo Camavinga is still going to be a big star

But with big Premier League clubs circling, don't be surprised if Eduardo Camavinga leaves Real Madrid and ends up shining to a higher degree elsewhere. Now, Madridistas love to repeat the line that it is all downhill after Madrid, and while that usually rings true in the sense of trophies, there are players who have gone on to have great success outside of the Spanish capital. That is especially true for the top prospects like Martin Odegaard, Achraf Hakimi, Nico Paz, and Takefusa Kubo - or even lesser known players like Hugo Duro and Alvaro Rodriguez.

Camavinga is better than all those guys. Before even joining Real Madrid, he was bossing PSG at the age of 16, and then when he earned his trip to Madrid, he won the Champions League twice, including with crucial late game performances in his rookie Madridista campaign of 2021/22.

With more intensity and a better attitude than Martin Odegaard or Takefusa Kubo as well as more natural talent than literally all those listed players besides maybe Achraf Hakimi, Camavinga has bags of quality about him.

It's just that his development has stagnated at Real Madrid. He can't cut it as a No. 6, and trying to play a position where he has to be more calm and read the game kills the spontaneity and effervescence that makes him so dang good. But he can't, then, be a regular box to box midfielder, because Real Madrid already have the literal two best No. 8's on the planet in Jude Bellingham and Fede Valverde - two superhuman pillars and leaders.

Camavinga is out at Real Madrid for a few reasons of his own doing, including mental lapses, but he is also the victim of terrible luck. If he leaves Los Blancos, he may turn out to be the biggest star of all those who recently left the Santiago Bernabeu.
