Real Madrid did not have the best time with Eden Hazard as their number 7.

I mean, it was pretty bad. Hazard was easily Real Madrid's worst signing in their history when you factor in the amount of money they signed him for, the expectations fans had from him and how quickly everything got ruined.

It was not easy, and the player was largely to blame for all of this. He did not take care of his diet well enough, which forced him with an injury early on. Then, injuries started piling up and soon, Real Madrid had to let him go.

But, even then, he did give Real Madrid a gift, in a way. It was not turning out the way it was expected, so Real Madrid terminated his contract.

In a recent interview, Hazard talked about that decision and how he wanted to contribute to the club in some way, so he waived off his salary.

He said: “The players didn’t want me to leave Real Madrid, I had another year in my contract, but I gave it up out of respect for the club because I stayed for four years and didn’t contribute much.

I told them that I will waive the rest of the money in my contract. Even mentally, I told myself that I had to do any positive action for them.”

Fair enough. Hazard never contributed enough on the pitch, but off it, he definitely helped Real Madrid by taking out such a big amount of his salary.

He was well within his rights to continue with the club or to ask for a termination fee, but he chose to give it up just to contribute positively in some way.

Hazard may not have been the best signing Real Madrid ever made, but it certainly showed that at the very least, Hazard is a good human being.
