Real Madrid have been linked with a few players in the last few weeks and months. They clearly need some new players in some key positions, and will be looking into the transfer market for that this summer.

Real Madrid's new manager Xabi Alonso has been clear about wanting a few positions reinforced. A centre-back, left-back and midfielder are among them.

Real Madrid have signed two players from the Premier League in Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and they were being linked to another.

Real Madrid, according to reports, were interested in Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. Chelsea's manager Enzo Manesca, before their win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, confirmed whether he will stay.

He said: "Yes! Enzo is a main player for us.

He is one of the leaders. He's been very, very good. He can be even better next season. Nothing to say about speculation. He is focused on us."

Real Madrid not signing Enzo Fernandez may be a good thing

There is no doubt that Enzo is a good player. He has had a brilliant season at Chelsea, but even if he were to join Real Madrid, it would have cost the club too much money - far more than what I think Enzo is worth.

Chelsea value him highly, and while Real Madrid need a midfielder this summer, they do not need one enough to spend 100 million on one position. If Enzo were cheap and attainable, it would have been a different discussion. Right now, he is neither.

Real Madrid need to sign a midfielder, though, and quickly. There are a few that are in the list for Real Madrid, and they need to act quickly before someone else does.

Real Madrid are losing Luka Modric in the summer as well - just after the Club World Cup - and they will need to sign someone to keep the depth chart working well.
