Real Madrid need to sign a centre-back as soon as possible. Eder Militao has suffered an ACL injury for the second straight season and might not play again in the 24/25 campaign. One also has to wonder what effect this will have on him in the long run and whether we will ever see him at his very best again.

Unsurprisingly, Sergio Ramos has been suggested as a potential option for Real Madrid. He is without a club right now after spending last season with Sevilla.

Ramos might not be the player that he once was but he is still very capable of playing at a high level, as he has shown with PSG and Sevilla in recent years. So, bringing him back on a short-term deal does not feel like a bad idea to the majority of Real Madrid fans.

He would bring a ton of experience and leadership as well. That is something that this squad might be lacking following the retirement of Toni Kroos and the departure of Nacho Fernandez. Yet, it looks like Real Madrid are not pushing to sign Ramos, even though he would be open to the idea of a return.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, no contacts are taking place between Real Madrid and Ramos over a possible return as a free agent. The Spaniard would be open and happy to return as he loves the club but there have been no talks so far.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid change their mind on Ramos. Aymeric Laporte is another centre-back they have been linked with.

No matter who they end up signing, it is important that they do add to their centre-back ranks in January. Otherwise, it is hard to see them being successful this season. But then Los Blancos have proven us wrong enough times.
