Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in world football. But for more than a decade, since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, their performances have been far below what their fans expect. They have not even come close to winning the Premier League or the Champions League. And this is despite signing proven winners from Real Madrid like Raphael Varane and Casemiro.

In the past, it was Real Madrid who used to sign players from Manchester United often. The tables have turned lately. But one player has been tipped to want a move to Santiago Bernabeu or Camp Nou eventually.

Alejandro Garnacho has faced a decent bit of criticism lately. But one cannot deny that over the past few years, he has been one of Manchester United's best performers.

Garnacho is a well-known fan of Cristiano Ronaldo despite playing for Argentina at the international level. Could he eventually seek to follow in the footsteps of his idol and want to swap Manchester United for Real Madrid?

As reported by Metro, Nicky Butt said on Football's Greatest podcast:

"A lot of the players see the next level as being Real Madrid or Barca but we don’t see anywhere bigger than Man United. Our mentality is if you leave Man United you’re going down.

‘You don’t get appreciated here like you do at Madrid. You can guarantee Kylian Mbappe will be in the running for the Ballon d’Or next year because he’s at Real Madrid.

‘It’s like Garnacho, he’s doing well here now, he’s a young Argentinian boy. If he keeps going, you can imagine him wanting to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Players become superstars there, not only on the football pitch."

Let's see how things play out for Garnacho at Manchester United. Of course, it is very possible to become a superstar there as well, if he can perform at that level. Just look at how things have gone for Cole Palmer over the past twelve months or so, since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea.

At the moment, would Real Madrid or Barcelona even want to sign Garnacho? That is a major point of discussion.

On the left flank, Real Madrid already have Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe. So, it is hard to imagine that they would be considering a move for Garnacho anytime soon unless he takes the next step and becomes one of the undeniable talents in world football.
