Real Madrid always have one huge transfer target in mind every summer window. It was Kylian Mbappe for most of them in the past, but there was also Aurelien Tchouameni at one point, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham - and the list goes on.

Real Madrid fans have craved a new right-back for a while now - especially since Dani Carvajal got injured and the club had to rely on Lucas Vazquez for the remainder of the season.

It did not work out, so Carlo Ancelotti had to make do with playing Fede Valverde out of position, which has worked so far - but is obviously not a long-term solution as the Uruguayan is primarily a midfielder.

Real Madrid's attempt to build for the present and future, however, goes hand in hand with what Fabrizio Romano has just said about Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid rumors.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid transfer is at the final stages

He revealed the breaking news on his social media platforms on Tuesday afternoon, and there is nothing more that Real Madrid fans would have loved to see. He also said on another Instagram post that a 'here we go' for the current Liverpool defender is coming very soon.

On X (formerly Twitter), too - the journalist said that the deal is very close, and that Real Madrid have sent their first official contract proposal to the English right-back, and they are discussing the details of the contract. All parties are confident to get this done.

This is absolutely huge for Real Madrid. The right-back spot is one that, even with Carvajal's potential return, craves for a revamp.

Carvajal will still be good when he returns, but he will be 33 years old, and having an ACL tear as bad as the Spaniard's is not something many players are able to recover fully from, much less an aging star.

Real Madrid are doing well to plan for the future and sign the best right-back in the world for the next five years, and with it, they will be one step closer to making an almost unbeatable team.
