Real Madrid are looking for a new manager. They are also looking to part ways with Carlo Ancelotti, and it has been reported by many journalists for a few weeks now.
There have been rumors about him joining Brazil at the start of June, and although it was a few hit-or-miss reports at first, everyone has been following the trend now.
Real Madrid, according to wide reports, expect Ancelotti to leave for the Brazil job at the end of the LaLiga season - just before Club World Cup.
Now, the most renowned journalist in world football has just confirmed the news.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid's current manager Carlo Ancelotti has agreed a deal in principle with the Brazil National Team to become their manager at the start of June. He will be their manager for the 2026 World Cup in USA.
Real Madrid can just go for Xabi Alonso straight away now
The formal steps are to be followed, but it is clear that these things will only be a formality as they have agreed a deal in principle to make Ancelotti the highest paid Brazil manager in history.
Real Madrid will keep looking to sign Xabi Alonso, which is highly regarded and highly reported to be as their next coach. They had to clarify Ancelotti's situation first, and now, finally, they can just go to Xabi and talk a deal out.
The entire waiting game was on two things: Ancelotti to clear out his entire situation with Real Madrid, and of course, presumably, Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen to be officially out of the title race. They have been for a couple of weeks now, but if Bayern Munich were to win their match this weekend, Leverkusen will mathematically lose out on the Bundesliga.
Of course, that is just my assumption on the entire situation, it is not tough to think that is what Real Madrid are doing just so that they are able to keep good terms with Leverkusen as well.
Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick and Eder Militao will still play under Ancelotti
There are a lot of Brazilian players in the squad, and some of them have been crucial in Ancelotti's four-year tenure at the club. Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Militao have all had some great moments under Ancelotti. Vinicius Jr, in particular, did a lot of great work under Ancelotti to become the player he is today, and he will have a lot to thank the Italian for.
It is a step in the right direction. Alonso, should he join Real Madrid - which is looking like he will - would be a good fit for the team. One thing is for sure, though: Real Madrid cannot make the same mistake with Alonso that they made with Ancelotti.
They have to invest in the squad more than they have, and they need to give Alonso the tools he needs so that Real Madrid are able to keep winning and hopefully start a dynasty. Whether they do that or not, only time will tell.
