Real Madrid are an annoying team to be a fan of. Really annoying, sometimes. They lost in a very poor way to Arsenal in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash in the Champions League at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
It made no sense. It was managerial malpractice, it was footballing malpractice, it was everything that annoys Real Madrid fans about this football club.
Jude Bellingham was one of the pllaers who started the match against Arsenal. He was one of their better players, but still did not have enough impact to warrant a better rating than what he got.
Real Madrid could have done so much more, and ended up doing so little. They lost 3-0, but it could have been far, far worse.
Jude Bellingham says Real Madrid could have conceded far more goals
He said: "We’re lucky we only got away with three goals.”
He was asked about the game as well, and how Real Madrid performed. He gave a good reply, but replies don't win you matches. He said: “There are no excuses. We have to look solely at ourselves. It’s a similar theme to what happened to us all season, but today on a larger scale.
"We’re going to have to address it, we’re going to need something special to turn it around. If there’s one place it can happen, it’s at our house.”
Real Madrid will obviously try. It is their job to try. It is what they get paid to do. But it is tough to see them actually doing it this time around.
Crazy things have happened at the Bernabeu, but this time, I just don't think they have it in them. Real Madrid are miraculous at the Bernabeu, but there is only so much that stadium can provide. If you cannot kick the ball around well enough, nothing will change.
