Real Madrid are going through a tough time. Xabi Alonso has stepped down as manager, and Alvaro Arbeloa has taken over. However, fans are left wondering whether the current tactician will be leading the Los Blancos ship for a long time or if he is merely a temporary solution for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, a number of notable names have already been linked with Real Madrid as possible candidates to take over in the summer if Los Blancos decide to go down that path. Among them, Jurgen Klopp is the most notable.
The German coach, who did a fantastic job at Liverpool, is currently without a club. Therefore, there is a real possibility of him being in Madrid’s dugout next season.
In fact, reports have recently emerged claiming that Klopp already has some big ideas for the team. And one of them involves Vinicius Junior leaving the club.
According to TEAMtalk, Klopp would like Madrid to sell Vinicius and bring in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as his replacement. The report further claims that the German tactician has also requested the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães.
Jurgen Klopp wants Real Madrid to sell Vinicius and sign Premier League star
Vinicius is one of the best wingers in the world. However, the Brazilian has struggled with consistency lately. Moreover, his contract situation remains unresolved, with his current agreement set to expire in 2027. So theoretically, a transfer cannot be completely ruled out.
That said, Klopp is known for getting the best out of the wingers, as evident from the performances of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane under his guidance. This makes the report somewhat surprising, given Vinicius’ immense talent. Moreover, the Brazilian remains one of Florentino Perez’s favorites and Madrid are working to finalise a new deal with Vini.
Additionally, Williams recently signed a 10-year contract extension with Bilbao, making his transfer a difficult one to pull off. On the other hand, Guimaraes appears to be a more achievable target for Madrid.
All things considered, it seems unlikely that Vinicius would just leave if Klopp were appointed. On the contrary, the German tactician could help the 25-year-old reach new heights. Then again, in modern football, anything is possible.
Anyway, for now, let’s focus on the current season. Real Madrid have a great squad that includes Vinícius. And Arbeloa is a capable manager who knows the club well and will hopefully succeed in getting the team back on track.
