Defenders

Dani Carvajal - Keep: Dani Carvajal is a legend on this club and must stay for at least another season. Also, the captain. Despite his age, he is an effective defender and a dependable locker room leader. However, it must be admitted that Trent Alexander-Arnold's signing changes a lot of things. There is a strong probability that the Spaniard will be relegated to a secondary duty, needed only in the most catastrophic scenarios, similar to Luka Modric's job this season. However, there is also the potential that Xabi Alonso devises a strategy to employ both Carvajal and Trent at different times, each based on his strengths and the games that fit them most. The concept of a La Liga and a Champions League team, as used by Zinedine Zidane during his first term, appears to be a plausible alternative.

Eder Militao - Keep: Militao is another long-term defender on whom Madrid can rely. And it's not only because he's good; his importance has just grown with the potential of Xabi using the 3-5-2 formation, which requires three center-backs at all times. Along with Dean Huijsen and Raul Asencio, I believe he should be the first-choice center-back.

David Alaba - Sell: There are two obvious reasons why David Alaba ought to be sold as soon as possible. One, he is not good at all. He is now a shadow of his former self, and I don't see a comeback in sight. Two, his pay is excessive for what he brings to the table. I wouldn't have brought up his salary if he was justifying it, but the brutal reality is that he is robbing Real Madrid blind with such spending, providing them absolutely no return.

Lucas Vazquez - N/A: Lucas Vazquez plans to depart Real Madrid at the end of the season. He had a terrible time last season, and his departure is entirely merited.

Fran Garcia - Keep: This is not an independent decision, but rather one taken out of a lack of options. Real Madrid do not have many options in the market besides Alvaro Carreras, but a backup is definitely required. If Carreras arrives, who is a complete left back that Madrid require, I believe Fran will fill his shoes in his absence. Again, forced entry rather than a choice.

Antonio Rudiger - Sell: Rudiger is a sinking vessel that must be tossed before it becomes unmarketable scrap. He is well past his peak and completely untrustworthy. Keeping him will turn out to be a bigger liability than an asset.

Ferland Mendy - Sell: Mendy was relevant under Carlo Ancelotti, but will lose everything under Xabi Alonso, who only plays fullbacks who are masters of offense. Mendy is plainly none of that, and he is also frequently injured these days. His departure appears to be the only conceivable choice.
