Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe go hand in hand now, just like how Los Blancos and Cristiano Ronaldo used to back in the day.

Mbappe had a really rough start to his Real Madrid career, but was able to quickly turn things around and now has become the team's most influential forward. He has scored a lot of goals, and there is a lot more to come.

Real Madrid had a talisman in the form of Ronaldo once, and Mbappe is now that player for the club. Or at least, he is one of them.

In fact, he has just equalled the Portuguese legend in an important statistic after his brace against Leganes.

Kylian Mbappe has scored 33 goals in his first season at Real Madrid - same as Cristiano Ronaldo

Mbappe is out for blood. I saw people say that he would not cross 25 goals for the club in his first season after the horrible start he had. And yet, it is only March, and Mbappe has already eclipsed both of Real Madrid's top scorers from last season.

He has equalled Ronaldo's debut season tally of 33 goals in 35 games. Mbappe played an extra 10 games to get to the tally, but let's be honest - no one expected the Frenchman, or anyone, for that matter, to beat Ronaldo's goalscoring exploits.

He could match the numbers, but not the consistency. He could match the consistency, but not the numbers. It is baffling how good Ronaldo was in his prime.

However, we're not comparing anyone here. Mbappe is incredible in his own right - and is probably the best player in the world right now - and he has shown exactly why Real Madrid wanted to sign him for all these years.

Mbappe will score more goals than any Real Madrid player has in their first season - that is for sure - and it will make people eat their words. Even if you are equalling Ronaldo's numbers, you have to be doing something right.
