Kylian Mbappe has an El Clasico record he would not have wanted at Real Madrid

Real Madrid lost the game, but Kylian Mbappe - although he had a bad moment - was the best player on the pitch by quite some distance. He was so good that he scored a hat-trick, and arguably should have had a couple more goals to his name, but he did not have the support he needed from his teammates.

Real Madrid's superstar now has 27 LaLiga goals with his hat-trick, taking him to the summit of LaLiga top scorers.

He also has a newfound record that he would not like his name next to. After his hat-trick against Barcelona, he became the first player in Clasico history to score a hat-trick for the losing team.

It is actually crazy how rare this situation was. Mbappe was on fire from the start, right to the finish. He was making good runs. A couple of them were offside, but he was mostly on point.

Mbappe's finishing was great too, clearly, it is just a shame that the one time Mbappe scores a hat-trick against Barcelona is when his teammates do not repay the faith to him.

Kylian Mbappe has been Real Madrid's best player across the 4 Clasicos, and this is proof

It is not the best record, but it still is a positive individually for Mbappe. Scoring a hat-trick is not easy. It is a feat that Cristiano Ronaldo had never managed against Barcelona. Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema have done it once each.

It is big, even though Real Madrid lost. There is no doubt in my mind that Mbappe will feel let down by his teammates, and rightfully so - he is the one player that has given his all in the last three Clasicos.

He was the best player in the Supercopa final, scoring a goal and getting a free kick for Real Madrid's second, among other brilliant things in an otherwise horrific performance.

In April, he came on as a substitute and changed the game entirely after scoring a free kick. This game, he scored a hat-trick.

That is now five goals against Barcelona this season alone - it is just a shame that these last three did not end up in a win for Mbappe and his teammates.
