Real Madrid have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a Liverpool star as their national team manager has revealed he has dreamed of playing for the La Liga giants. A summer rebuild is already looking likely to involve several transfer sagas over Premier League players.

One of those is Dominik Szoboszlai who is reportedly at odds with the Reds over a contract extension. The Hungarian's current deal expires in 2028 but he wants a pay rise that recognises his status in Arne Slot's team.

Madrid are thought to be keen on bringing the 25-year-old to the Bernabeu. They are prepared to use Eduardo Camavinga as a makeweight in a potential deal because he is reportedly expected to cost around £140m (€160m

Real Madrid target Szoboszlai dreams of Los Blancos

Szoboszlai has been Liverpool's best player this season and starred for a Reds side that have failed to put up a fight to defend their Premier League crown. He has made 34 appearances across competitions, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

The versatile playmaker is not only vital for the Merseysiders but also his national team. He captains Hungary and is undoubtedly the face of Hungarian football.

Marco Rossi, who manages Szoboszlai for his country, has fueled talk of the player potentially pushing for a move to the Spanish capital. He claims that his skipper has always dreamed of representing Los Merengues (via Madrid Zone):

"Szoboszlai always had one single dream in his life: to play for Real Madrid. I've known him since he was a little boy who just started playing, and his dream was always Real Madrid."

This is big news for Madrid given there has been no word from high-profile outlets or journalists over a potential move. The fact that Rossi has commented on the Liverpool man's affection of Los Blancos could be an insight into how the former RB Leipzig star views a switch to the Bernabeu.

Szoboszlai would be a dream signing

If Madrid want to mark a new era under a new permanent manager with a Galactico-esque signing this summer then Szoboszlai could fit the bill. He has been simply superb this season and it begs to question where his team would be without him.

Liverpool will undoubtedly be eager to keep him at Anfield where he has grown into a leader aswell as one of their talismanic figures. He joined the Reds from Leipzig in the summer of 2023 for €70m and won the Premier League title last season.
