Real Madrid fans were sad to see Luka Modric leave the club after 13 trophy-laden years. It was tough to see it happen, but now, the nearly-40-year-old will play for AC Milan from next season.
It also leaves a gap in Real Madrid's midfield where they may need to sign a replacement for the legendary midfielder. Without him, that creative profile is missing on the bench, and Real Madrid need to see to it as soon as possible.
They have signed other players, though, like Alvaro Carreras, who will replace Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia in the lineup.
However, according to a report by AS, the latter has chances to leave for Milan, and the club are receiving help from none other than Modric himself.
Fran Garcia must stay at Real Madrid at any cost
Fran Garcia's agent, Gines Carvajal, is also the agent of Carreras, and he has now tried to initiate conversations between Garcia and Milan.
Milan themselves want a left-back, and Garcia fits the description as well as the price point. Modric approved the signing, and it could now happen.
Obviously, absolutely nothing is confirmed yet, but this is a move that could end up happening.
Real Madrid should not let Fran Garcia go, though. Garcia had a brilliant Club World Cup campaign, and he deserves to play a bit more than he did last season.
Secondly, he is clearly the better left-back between him and Ferland Mendy, who should be a priority for Real Madrid to sell this season.
Real Madrid have to deal with this position, because there is now an over-abundance of full-backs on the left.
Garcia and Carreras are the two left-backs who are by far the best ones available in Madrid, but Mendy's contract and age, coupled with his injury history is not an easy player to sell.
However, Real Madrid need to keep trying instead of selling the one left-back apart from Carreras who would actually have a role in Xabi Alonso's system.
