Man United legend Patrice Evra has blasted Kylian Mbappe, saying the Real Madrid star should not even be compared to Thierry Henry.
When Kylian Mbappe signed for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, it felt like the entire footballing world was rocked. Sure, everybody could see the transfer happening at some point, but the best player in the world had made the switch to don the royal white jersey, finally.
Since his arrival, Kylian Mbappe has been met with criticism, both from Real Madrid fans and from rival fans too. This is because he's not hit the heights everybody knows he's capable of hitting.
That said, in recent weeks, the Frenchman appears to be back to his best. This can only be good news for Real Madrid fans.

Nevertheless, Kylian Mbappe has a new hater and surprisingly, it's a countryman of his. Patrice Evra, who is now retired but once played for Man United and the France national team, has said that Kylian Mbappe should not be compared to Thierry Henry as this is an unfair comparison for Henry.
In his own words (translated from French to English by GOAL), Evra said: "When you start saying that [Mbappé] is the best player or one of the best, I’m thinking, he doesn’t even come close to Jean-Pierre Papin. Let’s never compare Mbappe to Thierry Henry. Let’s never compare him."
The comparisons between Mbappe and Evra have been made recently because Mbappe is close to breaking Henry's goal-scoring record for France, despite being just 26 years old. Therefore, new-wave fans are looking at the statistics and drawing comparisons between Mbappe and Henry.
In many ways, the two players share many things in common. They both have a past with Monaco and were natural wide players who could also play through the middle. Let's not mention the blistering pace and incredible technical ability held by both players.
In his defence, Evra did say that Mbappe doesn't deserve some of the stick he gets. Nevertheless, he doesn't believe that the Los Blancos superstar should be on the same pedestal as Henry.
Continuing, Evra said: "For me, [Mbappe] takes too much heat, but when you talk about the best players in the world… Guys, did you see Henry’s performances? You’re putting people on a pedestal who aren’t on a pedestal.”
It would be much fairer for all parties if Mbappe was compared to Henry at the end of his career. This, we can agree with Evra on.
