Real Madrid's newest left-back, Marc Cucurella, considers it a huge responsibility and a 'beautiful challenge' to be a part of a club with such storied history, he said after his first training session.
After a well-deserved break for the World Champion, Cucurella had his medical and first training session on Monday, along with returnees Kylian Mbappe and Ibrahima Konate.
The defender was asked about what the club's history means to him, and how he feels to now be in the running to make some of his own at Real Madrid, to which he said things that every fan would love to hear.
He said: “I watched all those magical nights and the remontadas at the Santiago Bernabéu, and all the Champions League titles they lifted.
"So, getting the chance to experience this myself, and to be part of something this big, I consider it a huge responsibility, but also a beautiful and very important challenge.”

It is not the only time a player as good as Cucurella has said something about Real Madrid in the way that he has. Every player knows the history of the club before joining, but to feel it and see it at the club in your first training session, it just feels different.
Every player that joins Real Madrid says the same thing, and there is nothing wrong about it - Los Blancos are the most historic team in all of sports, and it is only fair that people who join the club are left the way Cucurella is feeling in not only their first few days, but also beyond.
It is now up to Cucurella to make some history and play good, consistent football like everyone knows he can play. Cucurella, on his day, is one of the best left-backs in world football. Seeing him lock up brilliant attackers is what made Real Madrid go for him, and now, it will be interesting to see how he fares at the biggest club of them all.
The theory that Jose Mourinho has reportedly applied to this signing is plain and simple: Trent Alexander-Arnold is the more offensive full-back, while Cucurella can stay behind and handle the load defensively, especially with his winger being Vinicius Jr.
It remains to be seen how these things unfold, but Real Madrid have a brilliant player in Cucurella, and it is definitely the biggest upgrade they have made to the position since Marcelo left in 2022.
