Ferland Mendy (winner)
Alphonso Davies would have made life a lot more difficult for current Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy. Therefore, the Frenchman will be secretly excited that he won't join Real Madrid, at least for another season.
From Mendy's perspective, this will give him some more time to prove to Carlo Ancelotti that he is simply irreplaceable in the starting lineup.
Alphonso Davies (loser)
Not from a bitter perspective but from a rational perspective, Alphonso Davies is clearly missing out by not securing the move this summer. After all, he had a golden opportunity to join the biggest club in the world. It remains to be seen whether or not he will still be of interest to the Spanish capital next summer but even if he joins on a free, he has missed out on a season to develop.
After all, he will just spend this season acclimatising to the new management of Vincent Kompany, before potentially leaving to join new management AGAIN next summer. Besides, by the 2025 summer window, Ferland Mendy may have proved himself as irreplaceable in the Real Madrid starting lineup.
