Real Madrid are the reigning European and Spanish champions. Normally, one would think that a team of that level does not need to make a lot of additions over the course of the summer. Yet, when it comes to Carlo Ancelotti's side, there are clearly a lot of areas in need of strengthening and it is a credit to the players, the coaches and the quality of recruitment that they have done so well despite facing a lack of depth and so many injuries.

One area Real Madrid appear to be looking to strengthen this summer is left-back. They have been linked with a move for Alphonso Davies for months now.

Davies' future could end up having an impact on that of another player as well. As reported by SPORT, Theo Hernandez wants a change of scenery and his goal is to return to Real Madrid or sign for Bayern Munich.

Hernandez had come through the ranks at Atletico Madrid before making the move across the Spanish capital and joining Real Madrid. He was not able to establish himself as a key player for Los Blancos though. Following a loan spell at Real Sociedad, he ended up moving to AC Milan.

It is at AC Milan that Hernandez has proven himself as one of the top left-backs in the world. He has been in the Serie A Team of the Year on numerous occasions.

Hernandez has established himself at the international level as well. He is a regular in the French national team.

But at this point in time, it is hard to see Real Madrid making a move to bring back Hernandez. It is far more likely that if a move for Davies does not work out this summer, they will stick with the options they have.
