Unfortunately in the age of PR and media-training, it is difficult for football fans to truly understand how a player feels about a certain situation. This has sadly proven to be the case yet again, as Alphonso Davies was asked for his stance on the transfer to Real Madrid situation.

This week, it was revealed that Bayern Munich had the upper-hand in keeping ahold of Alphonso Davies. Despite the Canada international entering the final year of his contract, Die Roten plan to keep him on board, at least for one more season. There was even talk about Bayern Munich attempting to extend his stay beyond that season.

Either way you look at it, it is not good news for Real Madrid. They may have the opportunity to sign him on a free deal next summer but it completely derails their transfer plans for this summer transfer window.

What does it mean for the player, though? Well, currently on international duty with Canada, Alphonso Davies was asked to reveal his stance on missing out on a Real Madrid transfer...

Alphonso Davies not interested in Real Madrid transfer currently

According to MARCA, Alphonso Davies is not currently interested in thinking about the Real Madrid transfer. However, he has not ruled out a deal in the future. In his own words, Davies said: “I’m sorry, but I’m focused on my national team to go far in this Cup. I have all my energy here and when this tournament is over, we’ll see what happens,"

While Davies provided a little more optimism on the transfer, unfortunately it looks like the ship is sailed. Unless Davies pushes for a move away and explicitly states he does not want to play for Bayern Munich this summer, he will remain their player in the new season.

The possibility of Davies pushing for a move away look very slim, considering he even agreed terms to stay from Bayern sporting director Max Erbel.
